Artist Statement

As an artist, I was inspired by the observation of daily life and the exploration of human
nature. I always believe” Art originated from life”. Our life is an endless race. The pressure and
frustration of life inspired my passion for art and creative motivation. My artwork focuses to
provide a sense of calm, comfort, and joy to the audiences, giving them a space to escape from
reality and relax or enjoy some funs. In my artworks, I usually include elements of unexpected
and surprise to capture the audience’s attention and interest. I believe that life needs little
surprises and fun to sustain it and my work strives to achieve that. In my works, I often use the
perception of color and shape to express my understanding of calm, escape and joy. I do not
pursues gorgeous effects but to deliver a sense of awe and pursuit of beauty through simple
and pure forms of expression. Life is already hard enough, don’t want to make it more
complicated. I would like my artwork to be a fun and enjoyable experiment for all the audience. I
want to drop a paint of color in the busy world.

Biography

I am Hein Htet Zaw, a Burmese-Chinese artist born in Mandalay, Myanmar. I grew up in
a family with a deep cultural heritage, deeply influenced by Burmese and Chinese traditions,
which have had an important influence on the formation of my artistic style. Ever Since I was a
kid, I had an interest in art. I remember watching an artist bring a landscape to life on a canvas.
I spent a lot of my childhood drawing and painting, trying to express the beauty of life around
me. I replicate the objects and characters from anime, manhua, and daily life.
In 2015, I immigrated to the United States and attended two years of high school in
Fremont, California. After graduation, I enrolled at Ohlone College with the intention of majoring
in animation when I transferred to San Jose State University. However, as I dived deeper into the
art world, I realized it is a broad and varied field. This sparked my interest in exploring the field
of digital art and expanding my artistic skills. With this in mind, I decided to pursue a major in
digital media art at San Jose State University. I continued to explore new techniques and tools,
while striving to learn and grow as an artist.
